The school day
The school is now considerably larger than it was initially and in order to ensure that everybody can arrive and leave in an orderly and safe manner, we have decided to continue to stagger the school day
The school day is currently staggered for EYFS/KS1 and KS2.
Gates open at 8.30am for EYFS and KS1 children for 5 minutes and then open again at 8.45am for a further 5 minutes to allow KS2 children to arrive.
EYFS and KS1 children can arrive for the start of the school day through either the main blue gates at the front of the school overlooking School Square or via the pedestrian side entrance gate. Children in Years 3 through to 6 only enter via the big blue gates on School Square. The side entrance , which is accessible from Willowherb Road via a pedestrian path and from Pennycress Close, is open at the end of day from 3.00pm to allow all parents and children to leave.
Children’s hands will still be sanitised on arrival at school. EYFS and KS1 children enter the building via their class external school doors as they are all on the ground floor. Year 2 and 3 enter and leave the building via the external school doors next to the Reception outdoor canopy nearest the main blue gates. Years 4, 5 and 6 enter and leave the building via the external doors closest to the Access Centre site at the rear of the building. An adult will be there to greet them.
Early morning learning/tasks/preparation for Pupil Conferencing Time (PCT) will start as children arrive. The registers are taken at 8.35am for EYFS and KS1 and at 8.50am in KS2. Children arriving after this time will be asked to sign in as late at the main school office. Children arriving after registers close at 9.15am will be marked an as unauthorised late with a U code.
Break times and lunchtimes will continue to be staggered but children from different year groups will no longer need to remain in 'bubbles'
There are no official afternoon break times except for Year 2.
Whole School Assemblies are on Monday morning, delivered in Key stages and on Friday afternoon as a whole school.
