Lion Class - Year 1

Welcome to our pride of lions!

Useful Information

Drinking water to stay hydrated for learning - Please remember to bring named water bottles to school. Water only please! No sugary juice. Break time snacks should be healthy -so please avoid biscuits and cakes.

Reading for learning - Children should be reading 4 times a week with an adult and it is essential that your child's reading record is completed each time. The homework menus set out the options for home learning activities. which children are invited to do.  However, times table practice, phonics or tricky word practice and reading are expected to be done over the course of each week. Year 1 are ideally expected to know their 2, 3, and 4 times tables by the end of the  year so learn as many times tables as you can now. They also must know their number bonds fluently. These are numbers that  make 10 ( 7 + 3, 2+ 8, 4 +6 etc) You can use Numberbots to make sure they do or just practise at home.

Getting our uniform right - Please make sure school uniform is correct and that children come to school in PE kit on their allocated PE days. Please see our school uniform tab for details of required uniform.

Healthy eating for learning - It is also really important that if your child chooses a hot school meal that you order this on the Caterlink website. If you do not, we cannot guarantee they will get what they wanted and we can only offer a hot jacket potato.
