Neptune Class - Year 1

Our themed learning this half term asks the question   'Why is water so precious?'

During this unit, we will be investigating what we use water for and how we can take care of our environment. We will look at plants and how they grow in more detail and investigate and classify pond life.

In PE this term we will focus on multi skills and developing our team building and cooperation skills in preparation for Sports Day.

 Our Maths learning focus

This term our maths focus will be on multiplication and division. We will consolidate our learning so far on counting in  multiples of 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. We will solve problems by making equal groups of objects, adding equal groups and sharing equal groups.

 Our English learning focus

This term we will be reading the story Hugo and the Bully Frogs. Through writing our own version of the story we will continue to focus on writing and sequencing amazing sentences by using as many writing tools as we can. We will recap how to use suffixes such as –er and –est as well as learn how to use the prefix un-.
